Margarita Postelnyak was killed on the night of September 7, 2022, in Sloviansk.
That day, the city came under another round of enemy shelling. One of the strikes hit an apartment in a building on Torska Street, where Margarita lived with her husband, Mykhailo. The couple died under the rubble.
Margarita was 83 years old and would have turned 84 on September 9. She was born in Sloviansk. She earned a degree in civil engineering and worked at the “Silhospbud” enterprise, where she served as deputy chief engineer.
She took part in the construction of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, and working in her garden. She was married twice and had two sons from her first marriage.
“She was a kind-hearted woman, always polite and friendly with neighbors,”
recalls Lyudmyla, the daughter of Margarita's husband from his first marriage.
Margarita Postelnyak was laid to rest at the Pivnichne (Northern) Cemetery in Sloviansk.
At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide moment of silence.
