28-year-old soldier Stanislav Lutsenko was killed in action on August 15, 2024, during a mortar shelling near the village of Balka Zhuravka (formerly Nevske) in Luhansk Oblast.
Stanislav was born on September 16, 1995, in Sloviansk. After finishing school, he immediately entered the workforce, working as an installer while acquiring additional skills as a driver and welder. His civilian construction work included building a new cycling complex in Lyman and working on industrial infrastructure at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
Following the onset of the full-scale invasion, he lost his job and voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in August 2022.
"When he told me about his decision, I asked him to think it through carefully. But he did not change his mind," recalled his mother, Svitlana.
Stanislav signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He completed basic military training at the "Desna" Training Center and spent three months refining infantry combat tactics at the Infantry School of the Latvian National Armed Forces. He served as a driver-mechanic in the repair and recovery battalion of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, participating in defensive operations across Donetsk Oblast.
For his military service, Stanislav was awarded the "War Veteran" medal.
He was laid to rest in the settlement of Andriivka, Donetsk Oblast. Stanislav is survived by his parents and younger brother.
