On the night of July 29, 2022, in Olenivka, 27-year-old soldier Vladyslav Volkov, call sign Paskha, was killed. The Russian army staged an explosion in one of the barracks where a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war had been transferred.
Vladyslav was born in Zaporizhzhia region.
When the Maidan began, he went to central Kyiv to stand up for his own dignity and that of all Ukrainians. He later served for two years in the ranks of the Azov regiment. After his service, he started a family and lived in Mariupol. In civilian life, he earned a living installing suspended ceilings — a craft in which he was highly skilled.
The soldier took part in the battles for Mariupol: he was the one who, minute by minute and at great personal risk, delivered ammunition and supplies to his comrades on the front line. Together with other defenders of the city, Vladyslav was taken prisoner after leaving Azovstal. He was posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, 3rd Class.
He is survived by his parents, brother, sister, daughter, and other relatives.
At 9:00 a.m. — the nationwide moment of silence. Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform honor the memory of fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
