Soldier Serhii Korotaiev, callsign “Pokrovsk,” was killed on June 25, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Viimka in Bakhmut district. He was 29 years old.
Serhii was born on May 7, 1996, in the settlement of Novoekonomichne, Pokrovsk district, and lived in the village of Stepanivka in Kherson region. By profession, he was an auto mechanic and worked at a Subaru auto service center in Kherson.
When Russia’s full-scale invasion began, Serhii could not stay on the sidelines and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a gunner in the 109th Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.
“He was a very kind person, always helped everyone, worked hard, and had many plans. But one morning he woke up and said, ‘I can’t stay at home when the guys are dying there.’ He found a unit and volunteered to serve,” his wife Valeriia recalled.
Serhii is buried in Stepanivka, Kherson region.
He is survived by his wife, mother, and sisters.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform honor the fallen defenders of Donetsk region.
