The life of 37-year-old Maryna Sokolenko was taken by a Russian airstrike on the city of Sloviansk on the morning of February 10, 2026. The private home where the family lived was destroyed by a guided aerial bomb. Maryna’s 11-year-old daughter, Milana, was killed alongside her.
Maryna Sokolenko was born on February 28, 1988, in Kramatorsk. She received her qualification as a sales assistant from a local vocational trade and culinary lyceum and later graduated from the Bakhmut Professional College of Transport Infrastructure. She worked as an assistant duty officer to the head of the railway station in Kramatorsk.
Those who knew her remember Maryna as cheerful, kind, compassionate, and sociable.
Maryna and Milana Sokolenko were buried in the village of Pryhozhe, the hometown of their husband and father, Andrii.
