Published 13 February 2026 year, 16:01

On International Mother Language Day, the Donetsk Regional Library for Children invites everyone to test their knowledge and once again declare to the whole world that Donetsk region is Ukrainian-speaking. To this end, the regional library is introducing an annual radio dictation in honor and devotion, #Living_Words. Its goal is to establish the native language as the most valuable treasure of the people and a powerful weapon in the struggle for the Ukrainian future of Donetsk Region and all of Ukraine. Anyone can participate in the event, regardless of age or location, and gifts await the winners.

Conditions:

- Write the dictation in legible handwriting (the audio recording of which will be published on February 21 at 10:00 a.m. on the DOBD Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/oblbib.dn.ukr.netу and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration https://www.facebook.com/kultura.dn);

-    Take a high-quality photo of the finished work;

-    No later than February 22, send the photo to [email protected], providing full information about the participant;

- Be proud to be a bearer of the centuries-old language of the princes of Kyiv and wait for the announcement of the results in the final post of the event (which will appear on the Facebook page DOBD https://www.facebook.com/oblbib.dn.ukr.net  and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration https://www.facebook.com/kultura.dn  on February 27, 2026).

The dictation will be available as an audio recording so that you can listen to it and write it down at a time of day that is convenient for you and at a pace that suits you. Feel free to use the «Space» button, as the text recording will be continuous. You can listen to it as many times as you deem necessary.

Due to possible power or internet outages, submissions will be accepted for two days—February 21 and 22.

Blurry photos where it’s hard to read the text and photos with illegible handwriting won’t be accepted, because we have to respect the language of our ancestors!

Let’s celebrate International Mother Language Day with dignity and pride!

We’re really looking forward to your letters!
