Sometimes history changes not in offices, but on a cold square filled with smoke and cries.
The Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred made a choice that protected the country. They did not allow our dignity to be broken; they did not let Ukraine turn away from its own path. Their step forward became a shield for the state — in those days when it was being decided who we would be.
Their sacrifice did not remain in the past. It continued in the trenches of Donetsk region, in the south, in the north — everywhere the struggle for freedom goes on today. Between the Euromaidan and the front line there is a direct line. Between their feat and our resilience there is a living connection.
They defended Ukraine’s right to be itself. And we are obliged to preserve this right — to stand firm, to win, and to rebuild.
We remember each and every one of them. And we hold strong so that their sacrifice will find its continuation in our victory.
