Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Kruty, we honor the Ukrainian youth who, more than a hundred years ago, stood up to defend their state.
Today, our youth — the youth of Donetsk region — are far from their native cities, yet close to what matters most: to memory, to Ukraine, to its history and its struggle. Young people from Donetsk region consciously honor the Heroes of Kruty as a sign of respect, continuity, and responsibility for the future of the state.
The Heroes of Kruty were as young as you are now. They dreamed, studied, and made plans for their lives. But at a decisive moment, they stood up to defend Ukraine.
The fact that it is you who honor their memory today is deeply symbolic. At every turning point in history, it is the youth who are the first to take responsibility for freedom and independence.
I am proud of you. Proud that each of you, in your own place — on the front line, in volunteer work, or by gaining a profession vital for the country — is making a contribution to our Victory.
I am proud of the youth with Donetsk region in their hearts, with Donetsk character, resilience, and indomitability.
You are the future of Donetsk region and of all Ukraine. You are our hope. And thanks to you, Ukraine will stand strong and will certainly prevail.
We bow our heads before the Heroes of Kruty. And together we hold the line for the sake of a free, strong, and independent Ukraine.
Glory to Ukraine!
