July 10, 2014 — a memorable date that is forever etched in the history of the Siversk community. It was on this day that Ukrainian soldiers liberated our city from pro-Russian armed formations that encroached on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In fierce battles against a well-prepared and fortified enemy, the soldiers of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel, with the support of artillery and aviation units, conducted a brilliant operation to liberate Siversk. Thanks to the professional and coordinated actions of the Ukrainian defenders, the city was returned under the control of Ukraine.
According to the testimonies of the participants in the battles, the enemy had been preparing for defense for several months, using tanks, mortars, and anti-aircraft installations. After the liberation, sappers began large-scale demining of the territory — roads, fields, public and residential buildings were found to be mined.
Despite all the dangers, in the first hours after the liberation, the residents of Siversk came out to the central square, welcoming the Ukrainian soldiers with tears, hugs, and sincere words of gratitude: “We were waiting for you! Thank you for freeing us!”
This day became a symbol of courage, resilience, and unity. And today, as Ukraine fights again for its freedom, we gratefully remember all those who brought our Victory closer.
Eternal memory to the fallen. Respect and honor to the living. Thank you to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for every day of Freedom!
Siversk was, is, and will be Ukrainian!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
