From November 26 to December 1, the Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championship was held in Madrid, Spain, where four members of the sports club «Bars» of the Pokrovsk community represented Donetsk region as members of the Ukrainian national team.
The participants competed in three categories: ground fighting – fighting from a kneeling position; close contact – fighting in a standing position with permitted knee strikes, throws, pain and choking techniques; full contact – strikes with hands and feet in a standing and ground position, pain and choking techniques.
Athletes from Pokrovsk, trained by coach Artem Pyatykhatka, won 12 medals: 7 silver and 5 bronze.
Among adults in the +68 kg category, Anastasia Artyukh won three bronze medals.
In the junior age group, Bogdan Pakhomov won three silver medals in the 80 kg category, and Hlib Leus won two silver medals and one bronze medal in the 68 kg category.
Among the sub-juniors, Fedir Syzonenko in the 60 kg category took second place in full contact and ground fighting, and third place in close contact.
