September 21 - International Day of Peace

Published 21 September 2025 year, 07:00

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 at the 55th session of the UN General Assembly as a day of renunciation of violence and ceasefire around the world.

Presidential Decree No. 100/2002 of February 05, 2002 established the Day of Peace, which is celebrated annually on September 21, the International Day of Peace.

This day is dedicated to the ideals of peace both in relations within states and between all states and peoples, and is intended to make everyone not only think but also do something for the sake of peace on Earth.

The International Day of Peace is a symbol of hope and compassion for millions of people around the world who seek an end to armed conflict and a world without war and suffering.

For Ukrainians, the pursuit of peace is no longer an abstract desire; it is a goal that the entire country has united to achieve.

For more than 11 years, Ukrainians have been striving for peace, striving to live freely in their own country, to speak their own language, to study their own history, to put their own homes in order without outside help. Today, for Ukraine, peace is not only the absence of war, but also the Victory, the restoration of the country's borders, and the key to our happy life, exactly as each of us sees it.

The Russian aggressor has been attacking Ukraine since 2014. Since February 2022, the Russian horde has launched a large-scale genocide of the Ukrainian people right in front of the eyes of the entire international community. Missile attacks across Ukraine, tens of thousands of civilian casualties, hundreds of children killed, schools and hospitals destroyed, entire cities destroyed.

The International Day of Peace is not only a symbolic date, but also an important reminder to the world of the horrors of wars that are currently taking place on Earth, as well as the fact that a brutal and bloody war has been going on in our country for a long time. We have gone through so many trials and losses that we can truly say that we understand the value of peace better than anyone.

May peace come for each of us, throughout Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!
