Today, we celebrate World Environment Day, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly at its 27th session in 1972 (resolution No. A/RES/2994 (XXVII), where the participants of the Stockholm Environment Conference decided to observe World Environment Day on June 5 each year.
World Environment Day is one of the main ways to draw the world's attention to environmental issues and to stimulate political interest and action.
The war is hurting every Ukrainian, its infrastructure, cultural and natural values, and is mercilessly destroying the environment. The air, water, land, plants and animals are suffering.
The damage caused to Ukraine's ecological system as a result of Russia's armed aggression amounts to hundreds of billions of hryvnias.
The world should not remain silent when Russia commits environmental crimes and destroys Ukraine's ecology every day.
In international law, intentional damage to the natural environment is considered a war crime.
Let us remember that only together we can make the environment cleaner, because our future depends on us.
