5 Myths About University Admissions in Ukraine for Young People from the Occupied Territories

Published 15 June 2026 year, 11:25

There are many myths and concerns surrounding the admission of young people from the temporarily occupied territories to Ukrainian educational institutions. These often arise from a lack of information or misinformation about how the process actually works.

In this post, we will address some of these myths and explain what solutions and opportunities are actually available.

Admission assistance is provided by the “Crimea-Ukraine” and “Donbas-Ukraine” educational centers, which operate from June 1 to September 30. They provide support at every stage: from taking the necessary assessments to attending interviews and submitting documents. Some parts of the process can be completed remotely, even before departure.

Free housing is provided during the admission period, and additional government support and assistance with adaptation after relocation are also available. Once enrolled, students may be eligible for scholarships in accordance with current legislation.

If you are just planning to leave—please reach out. As part of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, we help people leave for free, confidentially, and with full support—even if they lack documents. A safe route is selected for each person.

If you’re not ready to apply right away, preparatory programs are available—including a “foundation course”—to help you brush up on your knowledge of Ukrainian studies, adjust to the environment, and prepare for your studies at your own pace.

You don’t have to go through the application and enrollment process on your own—guidance and support are available at every step.

If you need information about admission to Ukrainian universities, vocational or professional colleges, the application process, or educational opportunities—please contact the organizations and government institutions listed in the link in the profile bio.
