Today in Dnipro, representatives of youth organizations from the Donetsk region presented the project “Code of Recovery: The Youth Dimension of the Donetsk Region.” It was presented by the civic organization “Nova Druzhkivka” in collaboration with the Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events for National-Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Donetsk Regional Youth Council.
Participants discussed ways to engage youth amid the relocation of institutions, bring together civic activists within youth spaces, and develop joint practical solutions.
Lilia Zolkina, head of the Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events for National-Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, provided further details on the future prospects for youth policy development.
“Our plans for next year include transitioning events from an online to an in-person format, as we’ve seen just how many young civic activists participate in our training programs. We’re also moving forward with opening new youth spaces. In particular, we plan to open a youth space in Kryvyi Rih for residents of the Donetsk region.
The issue of providing housing assistance to young people remains very pressing. We are developing mechanisms in collaboration with the State Fund for the Promotion of Youth Housing Construction and are seeking ways to support our internally displaced persons, particularly young people,” Lilia Zolkina told the event participants.
Oleksandr Levchenko, coordinator of youth projects at the NGO “Nova Druzhkivka” and deputy chair of the Youth Council at the Donetsk Regional State Administration, presented an action plan for engaging youth in the early recovery of communities in the Donetsk region. He spoke about the experiences of our youth in finding employment and seeking opportunities to support their home region.
Participants shared their own experiences in engaging young people in community initiatives. They presented the concepts they had developed and took part in a solutions workshop titled “Designing Tools to Engage Young People.”
