In 2025, Donetsk Oblast participated in the social project "Active Parks – Locations of Healthy Ukraine" from early May to mid-December. Twelve coordinators from nine communities in the region were involved in the implementation: Bilozerska, Druzhkivka, Novogrodivka, Selidivka, Ocheretine, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, and Vuhledar.
Due to the security situation, all activities took place outside the region – in Dnipro, Kamyanske, Kyiv and Kyiv region, Poltava, and Lviv.
The organizational basis for the project was provided by the Donetsk Regional Center for Physical Health of the Population "Sport for All": selection and recruitment of coordinators, methodological support, quality control of classes and reporting. This approach made it possible to maintain the regularity of events, prompt communication, and uniform safety standards.
Over the course of eight months, 1,061 events were held, with 13,200 participants. The program covered different age groups and levels of training: from children and teenagers to adults and seniors. The formats were varied – fitness sessions, active games, training with elements of physical fitness and coordination, outdoor activities, mini-challenges, as well as educational blocks on the benefits of regular physical activity and independent exercise routines.
Working with displaced persons from Donetsk Oblast, the project coordinators maintained consistent schedules and adapted the workload to the capabilities of the groups. As a result, participants not only received training sessions, but also had space for communication and mutual support.
The social project "Active Parks – Locations of Healthy Ukraine" remains an effective tool for forming habits of regular physical activity, expanding access to safe activities for thousands of IDPs from Donetsk region, and proving the effectiveness of the partnership model of organization.
