An extremely moving and significant event took place in the village of Kropyvna in the Cherkasy region—the unveiling of commemorative banners dedicated to the soldiers from the Shakhiv community who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
This initiative was implemented as part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” memorandum between the Shakhivska and Zolotonosha communities, which has become a symbol of unity, mutual support, and shared responsibility for preserving the memory of our defenders.
Now, brave, smiling, and determined eyes gaze out from the photographs. These are not just pictures—they are stories of courage, resilience, and boundless love for their homeland. Each of them left behind a peaceful life, a family, and plans for the future to protect our peace.
“We have no right to forget the price of our ‘today.’ These banners are a reminder to each of us of those thanks to whom we can live, work, and raise children on our native land. We bow our heads in respect to the parents and families of the Heroes,” was heard during the event.
The “Side by Side: United Communities” project proves once again: when we join forces, we become stronger. Shared grief and shared gratitude brought together villagers, government officials, and clergy who came to honor the memory of the fallen soldiers with a moment of silence and the laying of flowers.
