Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met with a delegation of permanent representatives of NATO member states to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, led by US Permanent Representative Matthew Whitaker. The delegation also included representatives from the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and France.
The head of Ukraine's foreign ministry thanked NATO allies for their support and involvement in peace efforts. The parties paid particular attention to practical steps to strengthen Ukraine's long-range capabilities.
Andriy Sybiga stressed that Ukraine's well-thought-out and effective campaign to strike legitimate military targets on Russian territory is already yielding concrete results and weakening the aggressor's military potential. He called on allies to strengthen Ukraine's long-range capabilities to compel Russia to end the war.
The Foreign Minister separately expressed gratitude to the United States and President Donald Trump for their leadership in peace efforts and pressure on Russia. "We see that Russia is not showing any willingness to seek a diplomatic settlement. Ukraine must be in a strong position, and we are grateful to all our allies who are strengthening us for their support. It is now important to further strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in order to achieve parity and superiority on the battlefield," the minister said.
The Foreign Minister informed allies about the urgent needs of the Ukrainian army and called for continued active support for the PURL initiative, which has already proven its value and effectiveness. "PURL must function effectively and deliver rapid, tangible results. The importance of PURL is dictated by operational necessity. We are grateful to all allies who are already participating in the initiative and call on others to join or expand their participation," the minister said.
An important element in strengthening the Ukrainian army is investment in the Ukrainian defense industry. The Foreign Minister invited foreign companies to expand joint production, in particular of drones and missiles.
The foreign minister also stressed that with the intensification of Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure, Ukraine needs additional air defense capabilities to ensure reliable protection of energy facilities and stability of energy supplies ahead of the winter period.
Andriy Sybiga also stressed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia as an effective tool to deter the aggressor and called on allies to decide on the use of frozen Russian assets abroad for the defense and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the joint efforts of allies are a guarantee not only of Ukraine's security, but also of the stability of the entire democratic world, which today is being tested by its unity and determination in countering the aggressor. “The security of Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic community is indivisible, so strengthening our state also strengthens our allies,” the minister stressed.
