Published 07 November 2025 year, 09:00

Border Service Inspector Dmytro Shestakov was killed on October 22, 2023, during a mortar attack near Bakhmut. He was 30 years old.

Born in Kramatorsk, Dmytro studied at School No. 23, then continued his education at the Academy of Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an office equipment repair specialist at Computer Pro. In 2013, he was conscripted into the army; in 2014, his unit guarded a chemical plant in Rubizhne, preventing the removal of explosives.

After demobilization, Dmytro founded the veterans’ organization “ATO Poruch”, got married, and became a father. On the morning of February 24, 2022, he evacuated his family to a safer place and reported to the Territorial Recruitment Center. He served in the 11th Kramatorsk Border Detachment as a machine gunner-inspector of the Rapid Response Commandant’s Office.

“There are no people as bright as Dimka. He was the best of us,” his comrades recall.

Dmytro was laid to rest in the Alley of Heroes in his hometown. He is survived by his wife, son, parents, and brother.

At 9:00 AM — nationwide moment of silence.
