As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, an online meeting was held between young people from the Bakhmut and Gostomel communities. Although Bakhmut residents are currently scattered across the country and Gostomel is undergoing recovery following de-occupation, today’s shared challenges require unified digital solutions. The main topic of the dialogue was safety in the digital space and the presentation of an innovative tool—the “Berehynia” chatbot.
The idea to create this virtual assistant came from members of the Bakhmut community’s youth council. In the context of war, the problem of domestic and sexual violence—particularly online—has become particularly acute.
“Beregynya” is the result of work on a complex architecture comprising dozens of scenarios. The bot provides action algorithms for those who have witnessed or experienced violence, offering contacts for psychologists, lawyers, and social services.
Community unity is measured not in kilometers, but in the willingness to support one another and implement tools capable of protecting people even with just a single click.
