As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” museum professionals from Bakhmut participated in a roundtable discussion titled “Innovations in the Museum Sector,” held in Kremenchuk to mark International Museum Day.
Participants in the roundtable included museum staff, researchers, educators, and museum professionals from various regions of Ukraine. The event focused on modern digital technologies, interactive formats, and new approaches to museum activities.
During the roundtable, Grigory Sokolovsky, a research associate at the Bakhmut Local History Museum, presented on the topic: “Experience in Implementing Museum Innovations at the Bakhmut Local History Museum.” In his presentation, he discussed the museum’s digital and exhibition projects, efforts to digitize collections, online exhibitions, and modern approaches to preserving Bakhmut’s historical memory in the context of relocation.
Iryna Bulgakova, Head of the Culture Department of the Bakhmut City Council, presented a unique 3D visualization project of the Bakhmut Local History Museum, which was implemented back in 2018 in collaboration with students from the Bakhmut Educational and Scientific Professional Pedagogical Institute.
Thanks to the 360° photos created and posted on Google Maps, anyone can now take a virtual tour through the halls of the Bakhmut Local History Museum, view the exhibits, and experience the atmosphere of the museum, which has become an integral part of the cultural history of the Donetsk region.
Such initiatives are particularly important right now, as they help preserve the memory of Bakhmut, promote the community’s cultural heritage, and make the museum accessible to people all over the world.
The Bakhmut community’s participation in professional museum discussions once again confirms that even under the difficult conditions of war, culture continues to develop and bring people together.
