World Vyshyvanka Day is not merely a celebration of beautiful traditional attire, but a powerful symbol of national unity, cultural heritage, and the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people. This year, the holiday held special significance for the residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School, who, fleeing the war, found temporary refuge in the peaceful Poltava region.
Despite being forced to stay far from their homes, where every stone and every street is steeped in memories, these people feel strong support and genuine warmth in their new surroundings. Vyshyvanka Day gave them another opportunity to feel a deep connection to their homeland, its traditions, and its roots. The celebration brought together the residents and staff of the facility, creating an incredible atmosphere of warmth both within the walls of the institution and beyond.
A rich and educational program was prepared for the residents of the boarding school, allowing everyone to experience folk art.
During the online presentation “Vyshyvanka Day in Ukraine: Traditions and Celebrations,” participants learned about the sacred meaning of the patterns and the regional characteristics of the Ukrainian shirt.
The venue hosted an exhibition of Ukrainian embroidery, where visitors could not only admire antique pieces but also participate in creating a communal embroidered towel.
During a tour of the local history museum in the village of Bobryk, guests were introduced to the region’s history, unique landmarks, and the local embroidery collection.
A visit to the Masyukov estate, a 19th-century architectural landmark built in 1805, evoked special emotions; against its backdrop, a vibrant festive photo session in embroidered shirts was held.
The entire atmosphere of the day was filled with melodious Ukrainian songs. These sounds filled our hearts with warmth, brought us together, and gave us a sense of belonging to a strong, extended family.
We never tire of admiring our residents—their extraordinary strength of spirit and unbreakable determination to live life to the fullest, despite all the horrors of evacuation and hardship. Their resilience, boundless optimism, and sincere thirst for growth are a true example of courage for each of us.
In the heart of everyone who walks side by side with these people lives an unshakable faith in the imminent arrival of peace. We sincerely hope that very soon our people will be able to return to their homes, where the long-awaited tranquility, harmony, and a peaceful sky over the free Ukrainian land will reign once again.
Each of us, in our own way, is bringing this victory closer, and such moments of unity are incredibly valuable on our shared journey.
Everything will be Ukraine!
