Starting in 2026, the state fully covers the cost of planned coronary artery stenting—a procedure that restores blood flow to the heart and significantly reduces the risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Previously, free stenting was available only in emergency, life-threatening cases. Now, patients with coronary artery disease can also receive the procedure free of charge on a planned basis.
Planned stenting helps restore normal blood circulation and substantially lowers the risk of heart attack. The government supplies hospitals with all the necessary stent systems through centralized procurement.
To receive the procedure free of charge, patients should:
Consult their family physician or treating doctor.
Undergo the necessary diagnostic examinations to confirm the diagnosis.
Obtain a referral to a specialized healthcare facility contracted with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).
