As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” an online meeting was held between specialists from the Kostiantynivka Central City Public Library and the Oleksandriya Central City Library.
The event focused on Donetsk Oblast—the heart of the Ukrainian steppe, a land of resilient people, rich cultural heritage, and modern bastions of spirituality.
Participants learned about the region’s historical and cultural heritage, including the centuries-old history of the Wild Field, the Zaporizhian winter encampments and Cossack legacy, unique archaeological sites—such as the Scythian stone statues—as well as the region’s natural gem: the chalk cliffs of Svyatogorye. Special attention was given to the literary heritage of the Donetsk region and the works of outstanding Ukrainian writers whose lives and activities are connected to their native land.
Conducting local history studies as part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project helps preserve historical memory, promote cultural heritage, and strengthen inter-community cooperation and national unity.
Despite the challenges of war and significant distances, such online meetings help unite Ukrainians, foster respect for their homeland and its cultural traditions, and effectively counter the enemy’s informational and cultural aggression.
