A regional study titled “The Reader and the Library in the Age of Digital Reading” is launching in Donetsk Oblast. The project is organized by the municipal cultural institution “Donetsk Regional Library for Children” with the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
Through the joint efforts of the Donetsk region’s library community, a solid foundation is being laid for the integration of modern information services into the daily lives of our region’s residents.
The study aims to examine the current state and transformation of reading practices among children and adults in the context of the introduction of digital technologies. The project’s results will serve as the basis for improving library services in the region’s communities.
As part of the preparations for the launch of the initiative, an online training session titled “Research: Instructions for the Super-Coordinator” was held, during which specialists from the regional children’s library presented a detailed toolkit developed in accordance with accessibility principles.
Twenty-six representatives of local communities in the Donetsk region, who are responsible for conducting the survey on the ground, familiarized themselves with the mechanisms for collecting primary data and received practical case studies on engaging respondents, working with digital questionnaires, and conducting an information campaign in their communities.
The official phase of the regional survey of users and library staff will run from June 15 to July 15, 2026.
