The police receive requests for evacuation from Druzhkivka every day. The officers of the “White Angel” unit work around the clock to evacuate anyone who wishes to leave the line of fire. Even those who had previously refused are now leaving.
Enemy missiles are transforming the city before our eyes. A few days before this trip, the “White Angels” evacuated an elderly couple whose car had been burned by an enemy strike. It was just in time, because shortly afterward, another strike devastated their apartment building.
Law enforcement officers are picking up civilians from many locations. Behind every evacuation lies a human tragedy.
“Our son was killed. It happened in Andriivka. He worked at the hospital, driving doctors around. He went into a store, and an enemy drone struck it,” says the grief-stricken couple as they leave their home.
For many, the decision to leave their home is not an easy one, and it is often made only after severe hardships. The wife of one of the residents had been evacuated by police earlier, and now her husband is leaving as well: “I had a heart attack and was in the hospital.”
In addition to scheduled evacuations, the crew also responds to sites of shelling. After an airstrike that completely destroyed a house, the “White Angels” rescued a seriously wounded man and woman. They provided emergency care to the victims, applied tourniquets, and immediately transported them to the hospital.
The Donetsk Regional Police are once again urging residents of frontline towns not to put themselves in mortal danger and to evacuate in a timely manner.
