An enemy airstrike on the city center reduced cozy homes to rubble and trapped dozens of people. While rescue workers clear the rubble under the cover of anti-drone teams, “White Angel” police crews evacuate large families and elderly residents from the line of fire, saving their lives from constant aerial terror.
Late at night, as residents were getting ready for bed, Russian aerial bombs struck apartment buildings in the city center. One of the building’s entrances was completely destroyed. People fled the fire and smoke in the middle of the night.
“I crawled out from under the stove onto the bed, and then onto this stove. I looked down—there was blood on my leg, and the bed was covered in blood. I made my way through the glass to the front door. I couldn’t find my shoes, so I walked barefoot down the stairs and across the broken glass. All my belongings are still in the apartment—no documents, nothing at all,” the woman said.
Emergency services immediately began working at the scene. State Emergency Service personnel cleared the rubble. Police officers from the anti-drone unit provided cover for the rescuers’ work. Investigators documented the aftermath of yet another crime committed by the Russian Federation, while paramedics provided assistance to the victims.
Those whose homes survived are now also rushing to retrieve whatever documents they can and are considering evacuation.
A mandatory evacuation of children is currently underway in Kramatorsk and the surrounding community. The situation in the city is extremely tense: the enemy is striking with aerial bombs and multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) and is actively using drones that are even targeting civilian vehicles. The “White Angel” police unit is receiving a flood of evacuation requests and is carefully planning safe routes.
During recent evacuation runs, several large families were evacuated. From a shattered high-rise building, police officers carried a man with limited mobility out on a stretcher. In another neighborhood, they helped an elderly woman reach an evacuation vehicle; transportation could no longer reach her home due to the danger from the air. Her family—her daughter and grandchildren—were also evacuated.
The Donetsk Regional Police once again emphasize: staying in Kramatorsk is extremely dangerous. The “White Angel” crews are ready to help anyone who decides to save themselves and their children.
