In September 2025, teachers of the Donetsk Regional Minor Academy of Sciences for Pupils held a regional event dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks. The event was held as part of the educational and cognitive project "I Love and Know My Native Ukraine",
Students in grades 7-11 were invited to the online literary meeting "Let's be worthy of our heroes: defenders of Ukraine - from the Cossacks to the present." Participants prepared short videos with expressive poetry or prose recitations and posted them on Google Drive or Facebook with the hashtags #BeWorthyOfHeroes #LiteraryLivingLounge.
Students of the region took an active part in the proposed event: 132 participants prepared 129 creative video works, including 31 in the nomination "Pokrova - the amulet of the Ukrainian army", 46 in the nomination "Heroic heritage of the Cossacks" and 52 in the nomination "Modern heroes and heroines".
Subsequently, an online meeting was held, which was joined by the authors of the videos, their teachers and mentors, as well as students of the Ukrainian Language and Literary Creativity clubs of the DOMANUM educational center (led by Larysa Tyshchenko and Nadiya Tenditna).
The participants of the event recalled the history of the holiday, which is celebrated on October 1. It symbolizes the centuries-old traditions of defending the Motherland, the indomitable spirit and heroism of the Ukrainian people. The students of Donetsk region recited poetic lines about the Intercession and the Ukrainian Cossacks, extremely touching words about current events in Ukraine, its courageous defenders and the dreams of every Ukrainian.
The online literary living room was a great opportunity for students and teachers of the region to feel the beauty of the Ukrainian word and honor our heroes and heroines, not forgetting the historical and spiritual heritage.
