Autumn brings with it not only beauty, but also an increased risk of accidents involving mines and other explosive hazards. As leaves fall and vegetation withers, what was hidden can become visible.
The natural camouflage created by autumnal vegetation makes it difficult to detect hazards, especially where objects have been placed amongst dense undergrowth or in the forest. Factors such as fog, drizzle, and early darkness reduce visibility, making it even more difficult to spot potential threats.
Golden rules of safety:
- Stay away!
- Don't touch!
- If you see a suspicious or explosive object, call 101 or 112 immediately. Report your find and do not remain silent.
