The DonOrientChamp, the Donetsk region's orienteering championship for schoolchildren, which took place remotely in 2025, has come to an end. Despite their geographical dispersion, the participants demonstrated unity, strength of character, and sporting enthusiasm — as befits true orienteers.
Throughout the year, athletes competed in six stages of individual and team online orienteering competitions in a given direction. Each stage required attention, analytical thinking, and the ability to work with maps in a digital environment — competencies that are extremely relevant today.
Young orienteers from nine regions of Ukraine took part: Donetsk, Volyn, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, and Kharkiv.
The scale is impressive — 2,082 participants took part in the championship, a record that underscores the relevance and popularity of orienteering among young people.
The winners in the overall individual standings of the DonOrientChamp Championship in their age groups were:
- Vitaliy Ravdugin (Raigorodok village) – boys under 10 years old;
- Artem Martynov (Slovyansk city) – boys aged 10-12;
- Stanislav Kovalenko (Velyka Novosilka village) – boys aged 13-14;
- Valeria Pankova (Velyka Novosilka village) – girls aged 17-18.
Second place in the overall team standings of the DonOrientChamp Championship went to the Haidamaky team from the village of Velyka Novosilka (led by Viktor Pankov). The team's high result is an example of coordinated work, perseverance, and true sportsmanship.
