This was reported by the Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin.
This is one of six gold medals and eight medals in total won by Ukraine’s women’s national team. Our wrestlers have now won the team standings at the European Championships for the tenth time.
In Tirana, Mariia confidently won all four of her bouts. In two of them, she defeated “neutral” athletes from Russia and Belarus, and in the quarterfinal and final, she overcame strong opponents from Spain and Greece.
It is especially significant that she won this gold at her first senior European Championship. Previously, Mariia had won European and world junior championships across three age categories. She is a Master of Sport of International Class and represents the Donetsk Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery.
“I congratulate Mariia and her coaches — Andrii and Maksym Yefremov.
Such victories are a source of pride for the entire country,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
