Despite all the challenges of war, the Cherkasy settlement community continues to preserve and promote local cultural heritage. In early September, community representatives joined the large-scale Black Sea Steppe festival, which was held for the third time in Odesa and brought together representatives from 10 regions of Ukraine. The aim of the festival is to create an open space for cultural exchange, social cooperation, and civic interaction between local communities, artists, public organizations, and state institutions.

The event was organized by the public organization “Desyate Kvitnya,” KP “Parks of Odessa,” and More Music Club, in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Odessa City Council, the Odessa Regional Military Administration, and the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience.

The folk amateur vocal ensemble “Perlyna” and the folk amateur dance group “Butterfly” of the Cherkasy Basic Historical and Cultural Information Center took part in the ethno-concert. Their performances conveyed the color and originality of Donetsk region and gave the audience sincere emotions and inspiration.

As part of the master class series, everyone had the opportunity to master the technique of traditional weaving on hand looms and create their own macramé amulets, immersing themselves in the richness and atmosphere of the folk traditions of Donetsk region.

The community center hosted a presentation by the NGO “Svitlo Mriy.UA,” which focuses on preserving cultural heritage and developing cultural initiatives in the Cherkasy community.

Today, culture is the spiritual foundation that unites society. Only through the joint efforts of the public, local authorities, and cultural workers can we preserve our traditions and establish Ukraine as a strong, free, and creative state.

Donetsk region is unbreakable, its culture lives on and inspires, and communities continue to preserve traditions and build the future!
