Communities in Donetsk Oblast are continuing their systematic efforts to involve young people in decision-making processes and the implementation of socially significant initiatives.
In accordance with an initiative by Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and head of the regional military administration, the region has established an institute of advisors to the heads of district and city (town, village) military administrations on youth policy issues. The main goal of this body is to strengthen communication between local authorities, youth councils, and active young people, as well as to ensure that the needs and proposals of young people are taken into account when decisions are made in communities.
As part of these efforts, the heads of territorial communities in Donetsk Oblast held a series of working meetings with the newly appointed advisors on youth policy.
Specifically, such meetings took place at the Avdiivka, Bilozerska, Kurakhivka, Pokrovsk, Svitlodarsk, and Sloviansk city military administrations; the Ocheretine and Cherkasy settlement military administrations; the Komarska rural military administration; and the Volnovakha and Mariupol district state administrations.
During the meetings (both in-person and online), key tasks and priorities for the development of the youth sector were discussed, including the development of non-formal education, support for professional growth and youth initiatives, engaging young people in volunteer and social projects, creating conditions for self-realization, and ensuring ongoing dialogue and coordination of activities with youth councils and student self-governance bodies.
Establishing direct dialogue between community leaders and youth advisors will make it possible to respond more effectively to young people’s needs, join forces, and work together to build a sustainable future for the Donetsk region.
