







On August 27-29, 2025, the village of Kozyn hosted a training of trainers on "Gender Responsible Recovery, Planning and Budgeting for Regions and Communities" organized by UN Women in partnership with the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service and the Higher School of Public Administration.
The program was aimed at strengthening knowledge and practical skills in integrating a gender approach into recovery, planning and budgeting processes at the regional and local levels. Participants learned about modern tools for gender analysis, practical approaches to policy-making, as well as methods for conducting trainings, consultations and moderating working groups.
Donetsk region was represented at the training by a powerful team of experts and managers who are actively working on the implementation of gender policy in the region. The delegation included Natalia Kirkach, Advisor on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men at the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Kateryna Khaneva, Gender Coordinator at the Slavic Heart Charitable Foundation, Yana Shturhetska, Head of the Family and Youth Sector at the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Pokrovsk City Council, Veronika Matskiv, Head of the Youth Policy and Family Department at the Humanitarian Affairs Department of the Kramatorsk City Council, and Natalia Kapinus, a teacher at the Donetsk Oblast In-Service Training Institute.
Participation of the delegation from Donetsk region in the training is an important step towards increasing the region's capacity to ensure equal rights and opportunities. The acquired knowledge and practical skills will allow to integrate a gender approach into the processes of recovery and development of communities, which is of particular importance for the territories that are currently going through a difficult path of recovery after military challenges.
