Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, thousands of Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety abroad. Among them are 84 children from the Druzhkivka Children's Home, who were evacuated to Spain. There, in the picturesque Spanish province of Asturias, they found a new temporary home and received sincere support and care.

From the very first days of their stay abroad, the Ukrainian children felt the care of their Spanish colleagues and volunteers. They actively participate in all events and activities, quickly integrating into their new environment, while proudly demonstrating their patriotism and telling their new friends about their native Ukraine, its culture, and history.

Despite the forced evacuation and life far from home, the children continue to preserve Ukrainian traditions. St. Nicholas Day, one of the most anticipated holidays of the year, was celebrated this year in a warm, sincere, and truly homely atmosphere, warmed by memories of the homeland.

Preparations for the holiday began in advance. To gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual meaning of this day, the celebration began with a cartoon about the origins and history of St. Nicholas Day. Children and adults learned more about kindness, mercy, and caring for others — the values that form the basis of this bright day.

The pupils actively prepared for the meeting: they learned songs, rehearsed performances, and eagerly awaited the opportunity to show what they had learned.

The most exciting moment was the arrival of St. Nicholas. He personally greeted everyone, said warm words of support, and gave them long-awaited sweets.

In the morning, another little surprise awaited the pupils. When they woke up, they found a chocolate bar under their pillows as a symbol of care and faith that kindness, care, and support are always nearby, even thousands of kilometers from home.

We are proud of our wards, their resilience, and their ability to preserve the light of Ukrainian traditions in the most difficult times. We look forward to their speedy return home to a restored and peaceful Ukraine.

We express our sincere gratitude to the government of the province of Asturias for an interesting Spanish vacation, as well as to the Kingdom of Spain, its citizens, and volunteer organizations that provided shelter and support to our children, showing true European compassion.

Victory is near! Everything will be Ukraine!
