Ukrainian Writing and Language Day is a celebration of unity, the unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people, and the development of the native language, which is celebrated annually in Ukraine on October 27. It is a day when each and every one of us feels an unbreakable connection with the thousand-year history of our ancestors, who cherished, developed, and preserved the Ukrainian language as a sacred treasure for future generations.

Every year in Ukraine, events are held on the Day of Writing and Language to promote the Ukrainian language in Ukraine and abroad. In particular, a national unity dictation is traditionally held.

Today, as is tradition, teams of municipal social service providers joined in writing the All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity.

It is important to remember that the Ukrainian language is a force that has guided us through trials and tribulations. As Lina Kostenko said: “Words grew from the ground like rye. The language sprouted with select grain. It is like bread. It is sacred. And it is deeply purple with the blood of our ancestors.” The celebration of Ukrainian Writing and Language Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to draw attention to the need to preserve and develop our native language.
