The latest stage of the “Clean Hearts—Clean Planet” outreach campaign marathon, held as part of World Cleanup Day, took place in the Cherkasy region. The main activity of the event was eco-plogging—a combination of running and walking with cleaning up the area. Among the participants were students from the Donetsk Regional Ecology and Nature Center, along with their club leader, Yulia Kucheruk. Supplies for the event were provided by the “Let’s Do It, Ukraine” charitable foundation.
During the plogging runs, participants focused on collecting man-made trash—plastic, paper, glass, and other waste. They emphasized environmental literacy, explaining that fallen leaves are not trash but an important part of natural ecosystems. Therefore, only man-made trash was collected during the plogging.
In addition, the young environmentalists conducted a “digital cleanup” of their devices, dropped off used batteries at special collection points, and created crafts from recycled materials.
The eco-marathon gave the children an opportunity to take action, stay active, and put their environmental knowledge into practice.
