Tetyana Hlebova, a teacher of the Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, and world literature, has been named one of the ten finalists for the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2026.
The educator has 28 years of professional experience and has overcome many challenges in her life. At the start of the full-scale invasion, she endured a severe blockade of her hometown of Mariupol without electricity, water, or communication, after which she was forced to flee the city on foot.
Despite losing her home and being displaced, Tetiana Hlebova has remained dedicated to her profession. She currently lives in Zaporizhzhia, where she combines in-person work at Lyceum No. 23 with remote teaching for students at Mariupol School No. 29.
In her teaching practice, she rejects rote memorization and punitive grading, building the educational process on trust, mutual respect, and meaningful communication.
