Today, on International Human Rights Day, an online training session was held for teenagers in the Novogrodivka community, dedicated to the topic of combating domestic violence as part of the global campaign "16 Days Against Violence."

The event was organized by the NGO Avalist as part of the project "Ensuring immediate life-saving response to emergency problems of protecting the population affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine," which is being implemented in partnership with Malteser International at the request of the Novogrodivka MBA with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

The organization specializes in supporting victims of domestic violence and has extensive practical experience working with vulnerable groups. Representatives of the Avalist NGO are members of the regional coordination council on family policy, gender equality, prevention and counteraction of domestic violence, and counteraction of human trafficking.

The event was attended by Lilia Zolkina, head of the Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events of National Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration; Olga Sidorova, deputy head of the Novogrodivka City Military Administration; representatives of the Regional State Administration; children and educators from the Novogrodivka community. A total of about 130 people joined the online meeting.

The teens got to join in on chats, interactive exercises, and practical tasks focused on understanding types of violence, ways to protect themselves, and steps to take to get help.

This format allowed participants not only to gain useful knowledge, but also to learn how to recognize dangerous situations and respond to them appropriately.

The topic of child safety is particularly relevant today, when the war is increasing the psychological burden on families and creating additional risks. Such meetings help teenagers not only to gain the necessary knowledge, but also to feel that they are not alone with their problems — there are people and organizations that are ready to listen and support them.

We sincerely thank the Avalist NGO for its professionalism, attention to children, and significant contribution to creating a safe environment for young people in Donetsk region.
