The Donetsk Regional Children’s Library, with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, invites you to an online meeting with Dmytro Polienko, author of the photo book «Quiet, Free Donbas» on May 7 at 11:00 a.m.
The event will take place as part of the local history project “Donetsk Region on the Map of Time” and will serve as a platform for open dialogue about the region’s contemporary visual history.
The photo book “Quiet, Free Donbas” is the author’s reflection on life in the Donetsk region through the lens of a camera. The publication features photographs taken at various times without staging or preparation. The author captures ordinary moments of everyday life, preserving their naturalness and sincerity. Some of these works remained outside the public sphere for a long time and are only now being presented to a wide audience.
During the online meeting, Dmytro Polienko will discuss the history of the photobook’s creation, his approach to selecting photographs, and share his own vision of the role of photography in preserving cultural memory. Special attention will be given to the topic of documenting everyday life as a vital element of local history work.
Library staff, educators, representatives of the cultural sector, and anyone interested in the history and present-day life of the Donetsk region are invited to participate.
