On the eve of major national holidays—Ukraine’s National Flag Day and the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence—the Olginsk and Novoborivsk village communities held a joint online celebration as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
It was a special gathering, filled with heartfelt words, patriotism, love for the homeland, and faith in Ukraine. Artem Yefimenko, head of the Olgynska settlement military administration, and Halyna Symon, secretary of the Novoborivska village council, addressed the audience with welcoming remarks. Yulia Kramarenko, head of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Cultural Center, also shared warm words and wishes for peace and well-being.
During these festive days, we feel the value of our freedom more keenly than ever. The event honored those who are courageously defending Ukraine today—its independence, territorial integrity, and future. Those present observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of the fallen heroes who gave their lives for the sake of peace, freedom, and the independence of our country.
An interesting and informative part of the gathering was a historical overview dedicated to National Flag Day and the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, prepared by Natalia Maksymenko, director of the Novotroitske Village History Museum. Through the pages of history, the fundamental truth was reaffirmed: Ukraine has deep roots, a rich history, and an indomitable people who have fought for centuries for the right to live freely on their own land.
Performances by amateur artistic groups added a special festive atmosphere to the event. The Ukrainian song performed by Lyubov Makarenko, a soloist with the “Smereka” folk ensemble, and her heartfelt words truly highlighted the gathering, filling the participants with joy and a sense of unity.
