Educational institutions in the Donetsk region are beginning to participate in the fifth round of the “5 Steps to Healthy Eating” information and awareness initiative, which aims to foster healthy eating habits among children and adolescents.
This year, 11 schools in the Donetsk region have joined the initiative, and its main participants will be students in grades 7–8.
Over the next few weeks, students will discuss simple things that are crucial for their health: why it’s important to eat fruits and vegetables every day, reduce salt intake, choose fruits over sweets, and prioritize drinking water.
Participants can look forward to online webinars and discussions with specialists from the State Institution “Donetsk Regional Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health,” as well as themed lessons, interactive activities, and useful exercises. Together, we’ll figure out how to make healthy choices easier and turn knowledge into daily habits.
We invite students from other schools in the Donetsk region, teachers, and parents to join these activities. After all, a child’s healthy eating habits are formed not only at school—family, the surrounding environment, and daily personal choices all play an important role.
Children’s health is a shared responsibility of families, educational institutions, and the healthcare system. Every step in this direction contributes to stable and long-term improvements in people’s health.
The initiative is being implemented by the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with the support of the World Health Organization Office in Ukraine.
