Donetsk Region selected the best athletes and coaches in February 2026

The Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration continues to summarize the results of the region's athletes' performances at national and international competitions on a monthly basis.

The best athletes of February were determined in three categories: olympic, non-olympic sports and sports for people with disabilities. The voting was conducted among the expert group of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration and fans on Facebook.

Vladyslav Prylypko was named athlete of the month among the Olympians. He is a master of sports of Ukraine in weightlifting, a graduate of the School of higher sportsmanship in Donetsk oblast and Regional specialized children's and youth sports school of the olympic reserve in weightlifting, representative of the Bakhmut and Selydove city communities. At the Ukrainian Cup in Lutsk, he became the overall winner in the over-110 kg weight class, setting national records in the total (400 kg) and in the clean and jerk (226 kg). Vladyslav's trainer – the coach of the Donetsk regional specialized professional sports college Ihor Obukhov – was named the best coach in Donetsk oblast in olympic sports in February.

The winner of the “Best athlete” nomination among non-olympic athletes is Leon Bilytskyi, honored master of sports of Ukraine in kettlebell lifting, from the Pokrovsk community. At the Ukrainian championships in Kyiv, he won five gold medals in the +95 kg weight class. The title of best coach in the Donetsk region for non-olympic sports went to Leon's coach, his father Valery Bilytskyi.

In the category “Sports for people with disabilities,” representatives of the Donetsk regional children's and youth sports school for people with disabilities and the city of Bakhmut were recognized: honored master of sports of Ukraine in para athletics Mykola Zhabnyak, who won the shot put in the F-37 class at the Ukrainian championships in Cherkasy, and his trainer Viktor Lys, honored coach of Ukraine.
