To mark the Day of Remembrance for the Defenders of Ukraine—members of volunteer units and civilians who were killed, executed, or tortured while in enemy captivity—the Donetsk Regional Palace of Children’s and Youth Creativity held a regional memorial event titled “Heroes Executed in Captivity.”
More than 300 students and teachers from extracurricular and general secondary education institutions in the Donetsk region took part in the event.
From July 24 to 28, 2026, as a sign of deep respect and gratitude to the fallen, participants posted themed flyers, drawings, and collages on their personal Facebook pages and on the “Extracurricular Education in Donetsk Region” page.
Every name, every story of courage, resilience, and self-sacrifice is forever etched in the history of Ukraine. They gave the most precious thing they had—their lives—for the freedom, independence, and future of our country.
It is our duty to preserve the memory of these Heroes, pass it on to future generations, and do everything possible to ensure that their heroic deeds are never forgotten. May the memory of all those who endured the inhuman trials of enemy captivity and gave their lives for Ukraine live on.
We remember. We honor. We will not forgive.
