Evacuations under fire, the rescue of civilians, and service on the front lines—the experience of the Donetsk Regional Police’s “White Angel” special unit has become an important part of the international dialogue in Latvia.

Cooperation between Ukrainian and Latvian police officers has long gone beyond friendly visits. It has evolved into a professional partnership and mutual support.

This time, a Ukrainian delegation—comprising representatives of the Donetsk Regional Police’s “White Angels” unit, as well as colleagues from the Sumy and Chernihiv regions—visited Latvia to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences of working in wartime conditions.

During the meetings, law enforcement officers discussed the challenges of carrying out their duties in conditions of constant danger, the specifics of evacuating civilians from hotspots in Donetsk Oblast, and mutual support.

The Chief of the Latvian State Police, Armands Ruks, personally presented the Ukrainian police officers with the highest honors of the Latvian police. He praised the courage and dedication of the “White Angels” and other police officers in Donetsk Oblast, who risk their lives every day to save people.

Latvian colleagues support not only Ukrainian police officers but also their families. They organized a vacation at a children’s camp for the children of law enforcement officers who have suffered as a result of the war. During their visit, the Ukrainian police officers visited the camp and spoke with the children.
