Specialists from the Kramatorsk Gas Distribution Company of JSC "Donetskoblgaz" carried out highly complex repairs following a Russian strike on a bridge in one of the villages of the Kramatorsk community.
As a result of the shelling, debris damaged an above-ground gas distribution pipeline, creating a through-hole. This caused a fire in the gas pipeline, which runs over the river.
During an inspection, the emergency dispatch service identified the damage and immediately began work under extremely difficult conditions. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers, who extinguished the fire on the gas pipeline, gas workers were able to contain the emergency.
There was a real threat that some residents of the community would be left without gas supply. However, thanks to the joint efforts of the State Emergency Service and specialists from Donetskoblgaz, this was avoided—there was no interruption in service for customers.
Subsequently, with the assistance of the Kramatorsk City Military Administration, specialists were able to carry out comprehensive repair work.
All the work was carried out practically at the very limits of what was possible: the site of the damage was located right above the river, and the bridge itself had been destroyed by the enemy.
“Every call like this poses a huge risk to our employees. But even after heavy shelling, our gas workers continue to work so that people are not left without gas supply. Our specialists are performing extremely complex work literally under the threat of new strikes. And it is precisely thanks to their professionalism, composure, and collaboration with rescue workers that we were able to carry out the work to contain and resolve the emergency as quickly as possible and without interrupting service to customers,” said Vadym Batiy, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Donetskoblgaz.”
