On May 28, as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” a working meeting was held between representatives of the Toretsk and Ruzhyn territorial communities.
The event was attended by representatives of the Social Protection Department of the Toretsk City Military Administration, the Toretsk City Center for Social Services, the Toretsk Branch of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as representatives of the Ruzhyn Community Resilience Center, the Ruzhyn Department of the Berdychiv Branch of the Zhytomyr Regional Employment Center, and community employers.
During the meeting, participants discussed psychological support and the adaptation of war veterans within the workplace and in civilian life.
Community representatives shared practical experiences working with war veterans, who, upon returning from the front, often face social maladjustment, the loss of social connections, and difficulties integrating into civilian life.
Particular attention was paid to creating a supportive psychological environment in workplaces, supporting veterans and their families, and developing social services and interagency cooperation.
The meeting participants emphasized that supporting war veterans and helping them return to a full civilian life is one of the top priorities for both communities. Joint efforts are aimed at establishing a comprehensive support system for the Defenders of Ukraine, ensuring an adequate level of social protection, restoring socio-economic conditions, overcoming legal and administrative barriers, and facilitating their successful integration into society.
