Fortunately, none of the power engineers were injured, but their team vehicle sustained heavy damage. Shelling in Donetsk region continues and constantly complicates the work of emergency repair crews. However, the company’s specialists keep restoring the network as soon as it becomes possible, bringing electricity back to the residents of Donetsk region.
DTEK Donetsk Electric Grids specialists continue working in the region despite the fact that restoring power is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous. The enemy attacks the area daily, and energy crews are coming under fire more frequently.
One such incident occurred last week. Company specialists arrived at a site to inspect equipment. But just as they began locating the damage, they spotted a drone. The power engineers immediately ran to the nearest shelter, and 15 minutes later the drone struck their service vehicle. Luckily, no one from the crew was injured. Although the vehicle suffered significant damage, the specialists managed to start it and drive to a safer location after the attack. They carried out the scheduled inspection as soon as they received permission from the military.
Power engineers begin work on networks damaged by shelling only with authorization from the military and the State Emergency Service. However, the enemy is treacherous, and at any moment and in any place crews can come under fire. Since the beginning of the year, company specialists have already been shelled more than 120 times, and several power engineers have been injured.
