Three years ago, the Sartana community launched the “Path of the Unconquered” event. Since then, it has been held in various parts of Ukraine. Recently, a special gathering took place in the hospitable Lviv region, in the Staryi Sambir community, bringing together 50 participants—veterans, family members of military personnel, and families of fallen heroes. This year’s event was organized by the Sartana Town Military Administration in collaboration with the Department of Veterans’ Policy of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, with the aim of walking this path together, honoring the memory of those we have lost, supporting one another, and regaining strength.
The program was very rich and meaningful. In Staryi Sambir, on Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Square, an informational panel titled “Living Memory and Gratitude” took place, during which participants discussed the preservation of our history and our responsibility to future generations.
Oleksandr Kurkchi, head of the Sartana Settlement Military Administration; Ihor Trukhim, mayor of Staryi Sambir; and Artur Nasibyan, head of the Department of Veterans’ Policy at the Donetsk Regional State Administration, addressed the participants with warm words.
The participants also visited the ancient Lavrivsky Monastery of St. Onuphrius, and a particularly special and highly symbolic moment was their joint ascent of Mount Dil to the “Tower of Memory.” There, at the summit, they buried a time capsule containing letters for future generations—about our struggle, our memory, and our unshakable faith in Ukraine’s victory.
This visit marked a significant continuation of the cooperation between Donetsk and Lviv regions as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities” and the memorandum signed in December 2025.
Other communities in Donetsk Oblast also participated in the event, including Mangush, Kalchyk, Mykolaivka, and Pokrovsk, as well as the Kramatorsk and Bakhmut District State Administrations.
Donetsk Oblast thanks the Staryi Sambir community for its incredible hospitality, care, and the feeling of a shared home.
