Infobox: Interaction with those released from captivity

Published 05 March 2026 year, 13:10

How can you support someone who has survived captivity without causing harm? The mental health program "How are you?" has compiled useful materials for relatives, comrades, specialists, and anyone who cares.

As part of the implementation of the All-Ukrainian mental health program "How are you?", a comprehensive info box has been developed on interacting with people who have survived captivity, torture, isolation, and sexual violence.

Key components of the info box:

The "Life and Service After Captivity" handbook – step-by-step recommendations for reintegration, medical and psychological recovery, social adaptation, housing programs, and employment.

The educational series "Do No Harm: Support After Release from Captivity" (10 episodes), posted on the Dія.Osvita platform, about the myths and realities of captivity, regaining a sense of security, and professional support.

"Encyclopedia of Difficult Questions" – short videos in a question-and-answer format: what to ask, how to avoid overprotectiveness, how to explain the situation to a child, and when to seek psychological help.
