When Support Restores Confidence: Iryna from Bakhmut Finds a New Professional Start

Published 30 September 2025 year, 14:31

Iryna Purman, a displaced person from Bakhmut, arrived in Vinnytsia with her two children, without a job and without a clear understanding of how to begin a new life. Yet despite all the hardships, she found the strength to move forward. By her side were employment service specialists who helped her believe in her own abilities.

During one of her visits to the Advisory and Coordination Center for Population Support “Bakhmut District Unites,” Iryna met Svitlana, a specialist from the Velyka Novosilka Department of the Pokrovsk Branch of the Donetsk Regional Employment Center. That meeting marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

"I immediately felt heard and understood. There was sincerity and a genuine desire to help. That gave me the strength not to give up," recalls Iryna.

With the specialists’ support, she began actively taking part in training sessions and employer presentations. These events became not only a source of new knowledge but also proof that she was not alone in her struggle.

Step by step, Iryna soon found her place at Ukrposhta JSC as a postal operator. Before starting, she completed training under the program “Fundamentals of Psychological Assistance to the Population in Martial Law Conditions,” which helped her adapt more easily to the new circumstances.

"Today I have a stable job, a decent salary, and wonderful colleagues. But most importantly — I feel confident about tomorrow again. For this, I am truly grateful to the employment service specialists," shares Iryna.

This story gained an especially warm touch after she was already employed: Svitlana visited the post office where Iryna works — this time not as a consultant, but as a customer. That moment became a symbol of how professional support can grow into genuine human connection.
